LOOK AT YOU, NEW WEBSITE OWNER!

Steps on what to do with your new website and how to build a great online presence.

1. GRAB YOUR MEGAPHONE

Creating an attractive website selling services/products does not guarantee you success. Without marketing, you’ll get nowhere! It would be like opening a brick and mortar store in a back alley that no one walks by. The internet is a busy overcrowded space and you have to make sure you stand out and get noticed – that’s where strategy and marketing are key to success!

When your website goes LIVE, the most important thing to do initially is drive traffic to it. This will help Google index it faster and start improving your SEO rankings immediately. Here are some ways to consider getting the word out:

  • Prepare and plan your social media strategy. Engage with your audience on social media as much as possible.
  • Encourage clients, customers, followers, heck – rope in your family and friends – and get them to become evangelists and promote your website.
  • Track and analyse your website traffic. Learn how visitors use your website and use this info accordingly.
  • Maintain your website! If you don’t maintain the backend of your website, you may lose potential opportunities. Ask me about my monthly maintenance plans.
  • Create a newsletter that raises interest, solves a problem and gets clicks.
  • And if it’s all too much! OUTSOURCE lady! That’s right, find a digital marketing guru that specialises in your industry.

2. GET REVIEWS

If a new visitor has found you online, they will look at your reviews or testimonials almost immediately! So make sure you get people talking good things about you.

  • Google Reviews – this is highly recommended as google reviews are generally what will pop up when somebody finds your site with an internet search. You can either have your customers google your business, then leave a review.
  • Facebook Reviews – FB reviews are also great and are now a more reputable spot for customer reviews. Don’t be afraid to ask for your customers to leave a review on your Facebook page and have them share it. Or get their permission for you to share it.
  • Testimonials for Website – after your website is live, we recommend gathering as many testimonials as possible to post on the website. Even if you don’t currently have any on the site, if you can gather 5-10 good, personalised reviews (usually gathered via email or off of google or Facebook) we can eventually set up a testimonials page.

3. KEEP IT FRESH

If you have repeat or recurring visitors, it’s important to keep your website content fresh. Here are some ideas to float your boat:

  • Change Out Images – If you have a main image or slider when visitors first land on your website, update this at least once a year. It shows visitors that you’re taking the time to update your website and therefore making the content more valuable to them.
  • Colours/Layout – new layouts and colours are a very easy cosmetic update to spice up your website. So think about adjusting or adding some new graphics once or twice a year.
  • Keep Your Information Updated – I totally recommend diarising this one. At least 3 times a year, you should review the important info on your website and see if it needs updating. I’m talking about new services, new products, operating hours, address, contact info etc.
  • Blogging – Did you know that regular blogging can drive up to 40% more traffic to your website? Google loves blogs and will often index a blog post before picking up a new website to index. Blogging is time consuming but if building and growing your business is important for your online presence, then start publishing good value content for your visitors is a must,

4. PROTECTION

If you haven’t already joined my WEBSITE CARE PLAN  in protecting your website, I highly, highly recommend you do. Over 50% of all web traffic is currently spammers, bots, malware and hackers. That’s scary thought and protecting your website – you’re very best salesperson – is the no-brainer thing to do!

If your site isn’t protected and secured, it’s only a matter of time before there’s a breach. My security plan lets you (and I) sleep better at night knowing that your site is protected.

5. LASTLY, WANNA SHARE THE LOVE?

If you had an awesome experience, I’d love to hear about it.

Not only does it make me feel good, but it goes a long way with my potential future clients.
